Signing a Strategic Partnership

Between The Higher Council for Science, Technology, the
National Center for Research and Development, and Yarmouk University (Jordan),and the National Association of Nanotechnology /


The Higher Council for Science and Technology (HCST)/ the National Center for Research and Development (NCRD)/and Yarmouk University (YU) signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Association of Nanoindustry (Russia) to start a long-term strategic partnership (five years renewed automatically) between the three parties, for cooperation in nanoscience and nanotechnology and its applications.


A memorandum of understanding (MOU) to this effect was signed by Dr. Khalid Elshuraydeh, Secretary General of the Higher Council for Science and Technology(HCST), the Acting President of the National Center for Research and Development (NCRD),and Dr. Abdullah Almousa, the President of Yarmouk University and Dr.Ananyan,  President of the National Association of Nanoindustry.


Under this MOU, a long-term strategic partnership between the two parties in the field of nanoscience and nanotechnologies was launched.  This will entail exchange of scientific and technical information and advice, carrying out joint activities in R&D, and accomplishment of joint testing and manufacturing in the area of nanotechnology by researchers from both sides. Through this (MOU), the two parties aim at creating nanotechnology centers at universities equipped with specialized nanolaboratories staffed by students and post-graduate researchers.


Moreover, the MOU aims at conducting workshops, conferences, and lectures by Russian professors in Arab universities about nanoscience and nanotechnology.


This (MOU) will promote commercialization of research results, establishing specialized companies in this area, registration of patents and extension of this partnership to researchers from other Arab States.


It should be noted that nanoscience and nanotechnologies, is about micro molecules and particles and their applications in various areas such as industry, agriculture, water and energy and others.


It is hoped that this cooperation will help to develop human resources and infrastructure in the field of nanoscience and technology, and implement joint researches and development activities in this area.
