Job Description: Marketing, Events & Awards Manager

Purpose

Build a strong brand position for the NCI through marketing, events and awards from conception through to completion. This person will ensure that the organization of marketing activities, which are critical to NCI’s Platform success, is seamless, delivers on the branding and business objectives, and drives sales pipeline goals.

Role

Responsible for overseeing the creative direction, planning, calendaring, agenda, logistics, execution, and reporting of NCI’s annual Forum and flagship user conference, the Jordan Open Innovation Forum(JOIF). This person will work under the guidance of the Project Management (PM) Consultant and NCI Director and is expected to evolve into the lead executive role, reporting directly to the NCI Director.

 

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Serve as program owner of NCI’s flagship Forum, which will be hosted in Amman, bringing together NCI’s Platform customer base with innovation thought leaders, industry pioneers and innovation professionals.
  2. Own the managementof NCI’s twoflagshipawards, as part of the Forum, the Jordan Innovation Prize (JIP), and the Enterprise Innovation Excellence (EIE).
  3. Lead on all matters related to event and awards’ planning, design and production, including overall strategy and vision, executive alignment, agenda and content strategy, production and logistics, and promotional strategy
  4. Build a budget for the Forum and awards and manage it to reduce NCI’s costs, increase revenue and enable sponsorship targets and tracking.Prepare the Forum P&L sheets in coordination with the NCI Director and other staff.
  5. Own and optimize NCI’s customer relationships to boost participation in the Forum and awards. Work closely with NCI’s Business Development Manager to plan and create memorable experiences from the Forum that drive Platform awareness and purchase of service verticals,including handling all arrangements for the Forum and awards’ publicity and traction, from build out all the way through to registration.
  6. Implement the brand strategy, including all brand extensions and guidelines.
  7. Develop a solid and high-quality promotional collateral to establish and maintain branding, including customer case studies.
  8. Maintain the content of communications and news feed on the Platform, and plan and execute media actions on all channels, including online and social media.
  9. Support the overall business development and marketing efforts, including marketing campaigns and roadshows, pricing and new product launches as well as developing new business opportunities, and analysis of sales forecasts and relevant financials and reporting.
  10. Build alliances between NCI andinternational peers from the world’s leading innovation countries to increase visibility and global position.Serve as a point of contact on matters related to Platform accreditation, peer arrangements, and access partnerships.
  11. Reach out to donors and IFIs active in Jordan to secure financing towards growth. Expected to identify and make up to 5 dials per week to key funding entities and meet at least 1-2 weekly.
  12. Manage relationships with vendors supporting the organization of the event.
  13. Take part in innovation and R&D related events in Jordan and aboard to market and present NCI services.

 

 Requirements: Qualifications & Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, hospitality, or event management.
  2. 5+ years of experience in meeting planning, event planning or business development. CMP or DMCP certification or equivalent is a plus.
  3. Experience in ICT related marketing and events is preferred.
  4. Demonstrated marketing aptitude and superior face-to-face communication skills, and high degree of professionalism, with a confident, and assertive style.
  5. Strong telephone sales skills to deliver clear, high-quality, and effective communications.
  6. High standard of written andverbal communication – clear, concise and accurate.
  7. Independent self-starter, highly self-motivated, and able to work on multiple requirements simultaneously with minimal direction/supervision. Able to excel in an environment with changing deadlines and/or last-minute changes. Flexibility and willingness to visit customer sites and spend time in the field as business demands.
  8. Show interest in and be conversant of latest trends in Information Technology, current and emerging web-based technologies and understanding.
  9. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Power Point, Excel.
