The Higher Council for Science and Technology with the cooperation of “Mediterranean Innovation and Research Coordination Action MIRA” and Enhancement of Jordan-European S&T Partnerships EU-JordanNet conducted The International Conference on Mediterranean Countries and EU Opportunities, during 22 – 23 Oct/ 2012, at Le Meridien Hotel Amman – Jordan.

The conference aimed at spurring synergies and complementarities among different projects co-funded by European Commission under the FP7 ‘Capacities’Programme in order to enable MPC to be protagonist of EU  strategies and initiatives for the period 2012-2020.

The issues debated during the International Conference on Mediterranean Countries and EU opportunities focused on the evolution of Euro-med cooperation:

• Meaning and possible results of the new strategy of co-ownership and co-responsibility of EU initiatives.
• Finding together concrete solution to existing barriers for cooperation.
• Promoting networking and synergies among the projects co-financed by European Commission in order to create further opportunities of cooperation.
• Spurring MPC coordination to projects co-financed by EU;
• Bringing research and innovation closer together in cooperation projects.
• Exploring fields where the common interest, including innovation outcomes and co-ownership, could results in short and medium term benefits.

European and Jordanian speakers participated in this important event in addition to EC officials, Policy makers; public and private Academia/Research; Industry/SMEs/Labs representatives for MPC.
